What Alloy Do You Choose?
The selection of an alloy must be based on a number of criteria, based on design, economics and most importantly been able to use the chosen casting method.

Pressure Tightness
Various alloys are suitable for castings that are required to be leak tight and can be manufactured by the three methods of production offered by Alucast Ltd.

Machineability
Aluminium alloys can be machined faster and easily than many other engineering materials as long as the machining conditions are selected to suit the characteristics of the various alloys.

Mechanical Properties
Most castings are used in the as cast condition but in certain applications that require higher mechanical properties, these properties in some alloys can be improved by the use of heat treatment. High Pressure diecastings are not normally heat treated.
