Alucast Expands Shifts to Cope with Demand

The UK’s only single source supplier of fully machined castings from sand, gravity, low and high-pressure processes.

Alucast has introduced a second working shift in their recently opened Dye Penetrant facility in order to meet demand from OEM’s and Tier 1 customers. The demand has been created by customers resuming production volumes after the past few turbulent months due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This pent-up demand is welcome news at the company which supplies many premier brand automotive manufacturers.

In 2017, the Alucast management team decided to invest in a new Dye Penetrant testing facility. This modern NDT technology allows the company to check casting integrity and is a complement to the business’s well-established X-Ray facility. Together with our capabilities of lean manufacturing and processing techniques, the expanded dye-pen department will bring more added value in-house, whilst at the same time allowing us to stay the leaders in industry and underpin our “Single Source Solution” brand. Customers have the comfort that our accredited ISO 9001:2015 and IAFT16949:2016 quality standards are sustainable through this expanded in-house process.

Many manufacturing industries have unfortunately seen a downturn of orders due to the COVID-19 outbreak. The company has benefited recently from increased demand over the recent months and the trend in increased orders at Alucast resulted in the management team making the decision to start a 2nd shift within our Dye Penetrant team. This will mean introducing new workers into the department to help with the increased work load.

We would like to thank everyone who has contacted us over the last few months, whether it be for a quick catch up or to solve a query and ask a question, we will always listen and be able to offer any support or guidance. For aluminium machined casting solutions, contact Alucast.
