Sand Casting - from first-off prototype to full production.
Where Alucast began in 1967 - and still a critical capability today.
Sand casting is the most versatile of the aluminium casting processes - capable of producing complex geometries, large components and low-to-medium volumes without the high tooling investment required by die casting. It's where Alucast began in 1967, and it remains a critical capability for customers at both ends of the development cycle.
Crucially, Alucast's sand castings are engineered to be geometrically compatible with our HPDC processes - meaning customers can validate their component in sand before committing to high-pressure die casting tooling. This dramatically reduces development risk and cost.
- 01Prototype and first-article components prior to die casting investment
- 02Low-to-medium volume production where tooling cost must be minimised
- 03Large, complex geometries unsuited to die casting processes
- 04Components requiring rapid iteration during the design phase
